PROJECT BY "AUTISM MY WAY ANI FUND"

Crisis respite center for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.

The challenge for people with autism and other disorders is transitioning to independent living as much as possible.

The crisis respite center program will fill a very important intermediate link, which is the stage of transition of people with special needs to independent life outside the family. The temporary residence should represent the possibility of staying under professional care for a period of 1 day to 30 days. The program will support families of people with special needs and prepare beneficiaries for independent living.

The main beneficiaries of the project will be the students of  “MY WAY” educational rehabilitation and professional training day center of the Autism National Foundation. The temporary accommodation center will be a continuation of personal development and behavioral programs for the beneficiaries. The temporary residence center will be located in the immediate vicinity of  “MY WAY” professional training building, which will allow the beneficiary to use the training, employment and therapy programs from the already created and operating infrastructure.

The building of the temporary crisis accommodation center will be 3-storey, will have an elevator, and it is planned to have 30 rooms of each 27 square meters. Each room is designed for one beneficiary and an individual referral caregiver, the rooms will be equipped with a bathroom, a small kitchen, furniture, TV and cameras. Each floor will have a staff room for 2 round-the-clock care workers, as well as a doctor’s room for a doctor and nurse attached to the center. On the 1st floor of the center, there will be a large kitchen and a special therapy pool, as well as 6 rooms, each with an individual entrance from the outside, adapted for beneficiaries with mobility problems. Adjacent to the building will be a landscaped and adapted garden. The perforated corridor will connect  “MY WAY” vocational training center with the temporary accommodation center, ensuring the entry and exit of the beneficiaries.

The temporary accommodation center will have the capacity to serve many beneficiaries annually. An agreement will be signed with the parents/guardians of the beneficiaries, preference will be given to the students of “MY WAY” educational rehabilitation and vocational training day care center. Priority will be given to households in a temporary crisis situation. The birth of a new child in the family, the death of a family member will be considered a crisis situation, the illness of a parent, guardian or other family member, overfatigue, the need for medical intervention or rehabilitation, as well as the need for a business trip. Staying at the center will be the most important stage of the students’ personal development and transition to an independent life outside the family.

Services will be fee-based to cover the basic running costs of the Crisis Housing Center, and the foundation will work to attract benefactors and seek alternative funding streams.
