Autism National Foundation's "My Way" Social-Rehabilitation, Educational and Vocational Training Day Care Center provides the following services to children and adolescents with autism and other developmental disorders.
FIRST STEP ACTIVITIES
Interview with parents;
Child or teenager behavior observation;
Child or teenager preliminary knowledge and skills assessment and individual program development.
BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
- АВА (Applied Behavioral Analysis) – improves the live quality of people with autism spectrum disorder by means of changing, reducing and, eventually, excluding undesirable behavior, in parallel contributing to shaping and reinforcing the acceptable conduct.
SPEECH THERAPY
- Modeling the primary communication skills and speech development in various social situations;
- Auditory reception and speech perception development;
- Speech perception development with the help of emotional semantic accompaniment, with following the instructions,
- Fine motor skills development,
- Forming the mobility and development of organs of speech;
ERGOTHERAPY
The occupational therapy includes sessions in the following spheres:
- Sensory integration;
- Occupational/vocational training;
- Building household skills;
- Self-service;
- Shopping, cooking;
- In leisure time – dance, rhythmics;
- Primary occupational skills development.
ART THERAPY
Basic drawing tools:
- Cathartic / purifying / suppressing negative emotions;
- Regulating / contributing to the reduction of nervous tension, correction of psychosomatic symptoms;
- Modeling of positive psycho-emotional condition;
- Communication or contacting / contributes to the communication impairment correction and proper interpersonal communication;
- Self-esteem formation.
MUSIC THERAPY
- Music compositions listening;
- Familiarization with musical instruments;
- Various musical instruments playing skills;
- Singing;
- Rhythmical movements to music;
- Musical accompaniment to performed activities;
Goals of music therapy:
- Body movements improvement;
- Correction and development of sensory abilities;
- Contribution to speech development;
- Correction of speech tempo, rhythm, emphasis, timbre, expressiveness;
ADAPTIVE PHYSICAL CULTURE (group and individual)
- Compliance with rules during physically active games, joint exercises with teammates, movements structuring and motor skills enhancement;
- In group work the emphasis is made on collaboration and teamwork, with the aim of developing self-confidence and the sense of being a part of a team.
KINESIOTHERAPY
- Helps to restore the normal body mobility;
- Treatment and rehabilitation of muscles and joints;
- Correction of various musculoskeletal development birth defects, acquired deviations, some disorders and traumas, without harm to health;
- Therapeutic gymnastics and exercises without complex equipment positively affect overall health and are proved to be highly effective for kids and teenagers.
CLAY THERAPY (group and individual)
- Positively affects mood, thinking, imagination;
- Reduces neuro-psychological tension, helps to overcome fears and anxiety;
- Causes not only esthetical pleasure to the author of ready produce, but also raises self-esteem and confidence in own skills and abilities;
- Develops gross and fine motor skills;
- Develops imagination, imaginative thinking, industriousness;
- Forms the desire and ability to see, feel, value and create beauty.
EXTENDED DAY ACTIVITIES (group)
- Every work day, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the following activities are available at the center:
- Watching movies and Cartoons;
- Various developmental games, drawing, walks;
- Listening to fairy tales, music and dance.
WEEKEND ACTIVITIES (group)
- Every work day, from 10:00 a.m. to 17:00 p.m. the following activities are available at the center:
- Watching movies and Cartoons;
- Various developmental games, drawing, walks;
- Listening to fairy tales, music and dance.
